Preparing for Preschool
We believe it is important for children to be happy and settled in their learning environment. Children learn through play.
Each day your preschooler will need:
A hat – sun protection. A bucket, wide brim or legionnaires style hat offers the best protection. Caps and visors are not considered suitable protection.
A piece of fruit to share for morning tea
Lunch – healthy lunch, water bottle. No Nuts – KCPS is nut free
Spare clothes – for water play or toileting accidents
Warm jacket or jumper
Shoes for active play – joggers. Thongs and slip-ons are not suitable for running and climbing.
Additionally:
If you child has a comforter which will make them feel more at ease they are welcome to bring it to preschool.
Please label everything you send so it can be returned if it is misplaced. This can help to reduce confusion and distress for children as they are settling in.
It is best to keep fragile, very precious or expensive items at home. With 40 children at preschool each day and a large space it is easy for items to be lost or broken.
Rhythm of the Preschool Day
Our preschool day has a natural rhythm and relaxed pace.
